Donate used mobile phones throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month
The Commerce City-Brighton Victim Services Unit (VSU) wants to put your used cell phone into the hands of someone who may need it in an emergency. Throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, the VSU is encouraging donations of used mobile phones and chargers in designated drop off locations in the city.
All mobile phones sold in the United States are able to call 911 in an emergency, even without service from a carrier. Secure the Call, a nonprofit partner organization, wipes the donated phones of all personal information, returns them to factory settings and distributes them to victims of domestic violence, seniors and other at-risk individuals for use in emergencies.
Donation barrels are available throughout October at the following locations:
Commerce City Civic Center, 7887 E. 60th Ave.
Eagle Pointe Recreation Center, 6060 Parkway Dr.
Bison Ridge Recreation Center, 13905 E. 112th Ave.
